I am very grateful to the Meath Foundation for supporting me in my application to undertake my Masters in Healthcare Management with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, with which I was recently conferred.
The Meath Foundation’s support has meant that I have had an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate and network with a diverse group of clinicians, administrators and managers in a dedicated programme. A constant focus in our programme was acknowledgment of the importance of recognising healthcare as a complex and adaptive system, with new and innovative approaches to enabling our healthcare teams’ ability to adapt and improve their skills to develop care pathways that are essential for continuous quality improvement in healthcare.
I am proud to be a highly qualified and experienced gynaecological surgeon, leading a dedicated team working in Tallaght University Hospital and implementing system change in Endometriosis care, contributing at a national level and collaborating in a multidisciplinary arena to improve women’s health in Ireland.
I see the value of the MSc to me as a person and as a clinician in my day-to-day interactions with the many people I work with and look forward to using my new-found skills in healthcare management for future developments at Tallaght University Hospital.
Completing my Masters in Healthcare Management in RCSI with the help of the Meath Foundation, has been a meaningful experience that has shaped my professional career and personal growth.
The knowledge I’ve gained through my Masters will be permanently reflected in how I lead, support my colleagues and care for our patients in the ICU.

I was supported by The Meath Foundation to complete a MSc in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in 2024. It advanced my academic ability, my analytical and leadership skills and significantly increased my confidence, which led to my promotion to a more senior level in Tallaght University Hospital.
The MSc has benefited my organisation through my systems-wide perspective, external professional networks and the implementation of an improvement project to strengthen patient safety and experience.
