Meet our Board

Sibéal Carolan – Chairperson

Sibéal, our Chairperson, has over 30 years experience in healthcare. 
She trained in the Meath Hospital and later worked in Tallaght University Hospital. 
Sibéal is working within National HR HSE Disabilities Workforce and Resourcing. 
She is a keen tennis player with caps for Leinster and Ireland.

Rea Walshe – Secretary

Rea is a qualified solicitor & the owner of RW Consulting, specialising in governance.  Rea works with clients both in Ireland and internationally to help them improve their governance practices. Before setting up her own consultancy firm Rea was Chief Operating Officer at the Football Association of Ireland. 
In her spare time Rea is kept busy ferrying children to various sports and extra-curricular activities but also manages to find time to keep fit.

Professor Kevin Conlon

Professor Conlon is Emeritus Professor of Surgery at Trinity College Dublin and a retired HepatoPancreatoBiliary (HPB) consultant at Tallaght University Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. He is a surgical oncologist with an interest in upper gastrointestinal cancer, particularly gastric and pancreatic malignancies.

Dr. Aileen McCabe

Dr McCabe is Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Tallaght University Hospital. She has a passion for evidenced based medicine with over 60 peer reviewed publications and completed her PhD doing a feasibility analysis of key performance indicators in Irish Emergency Departments.
She is an enthusiastic tennis player and an intrepid traveller.

Dermot O’Flynn

Dermot is currently a Collaborative Fellow and Coach at the RCSI Institute of Global Surgery. He has over thirty years experience of delivering clinical leadership development programmes in Ireland, the Middle East and Africa, prior to which he worked in global aviation and telecommunications companies. He is passionate about improving the leadership skills of medics and allied health professions. 
In his spare time, he really enjoys his daily sea water swim and spends his summers sailing along the Irish coast with his dog Mick the Messer.    

Pat Flynn

Pat is a Tech Entrepreneur with extensive International Business experience and has had a wide range of Charity Governance roles. 
He lives by the words of Henry Ford “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’ll be right in either case”.  And he firmly believes the Meath Foundation can.    

Evonne Healy

Evonne originally trained as a nurse in the Meath Hospital and later worked in Tallaght University Hospital. Evonne is currently Director of Nursing in Blackrock Health, Blackrock Clinic. 
She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing (Renal) from Trinity College Dublin, a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Factors in Patient Safety and a Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. 

Fergal McAleavy

Fergal is a Mergers & Acquisitions Partner with EY, with previous roles in ISIF (Ireland sovereign wealth fund), Department of Finance and AIB.
He has served on numerous Boards in both the commercial and charity sectors. He has extensive finance and investment expertise. When not in work he can be found on the golf course or woodworking in his man shed.

Mary Hickey

Mary has over 25 years’ experience in Quality Improvement and as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt  has trained, coached and assisted staff across Tallaght University Hospital to constantly improve the quality of care which has impacted innumerable patient episodes of care.
In her spare time she loves flower arranging and walking Dun Laoghaire pier.

Martin Lyes

Martin has over 35 years of experience of designing, managing and evaluating research and innovation programmes. In recent years he has acted as a consultant to a number of Governmental agencies, particularly in the Middle East.
Currently he is also a Board member of Tallaght University Hospital and the Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups.

Thomas Stone

Thomas is Vice President for Partnerships in TU Dublin and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has held several senior management and leadership roles in the higher education sector for many years including chair of the Audit and Risk Committees of South Dublin County Council, Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB and the Open Doors Initiative.

Kathleen Cass

Kathleen is a member of the Law Society of Ireland.  She has worked in the International Non-Governmental Organisation sector in Asia and Europe and has extensive international experience in governance and programme management.  Since returning to Ireland, she supports Irish NGOs on policies, procedures and their compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, in particular the Charity Regulatory Authority (CRA).
