The Meath Foundation would not be the organisation it is today without the commitment of its outgoing Directors. After each giving over 20 years of service, Mairéad Shields, John Barragry and Des O’Neill retired from the Board at the 2023 AGM. Their expertise, contributions and commitment to the development of the Foundation have been invaluable.
Stephen Lane, a valued member of the Board, was highly effective and committed in his role as Chair of the Foundation’s Research, Education, Quality Improvement and Innovation (REQII) Committee. Stephen retired from the Board at the 2023 AGM.
We also thank Veronica Bolger for the knowledge and experience that she brought to the Board from 2022 – 2023.
We welcome Sibéal Carolan as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. Sibéal trained in the Meath Hospital and brings to the role 40 years of experience in Irish Healthcare, including 8 years at TUH. With particular expertise in the area of leadership and stakeholder engagement, Sibéal welcomes the opportunity to work with the Board of Directors, the Meath Foundation’s operational team and the wider community to build upon the legacy of the Foundation and to promote excellence in the Healthcare sector.
There are a further 13 Directors who are Kathleen Cass, Kevin Conlon, Gerry Fitzpatrick, Rosemary Fox, Mary Hickey, David Kane, Mary Kelly, Barbara Loftus, Martin Lyes, Fergal McAleavey, Aileen McCabe, Líadain von der Decken and Rea Walshe.
Sibéal reflects that “my connection with the Meath Hospital and its values has been a thread throughout my career. I am so proud of my 1980’s Meath Hospital Nursing Badge and will now wear the Meath Foundation Badge with pride and energy.”
